Solving Equations with Variables on Both Sides

x + 2 = x = 4

I need help on how to do it. I don't want the answer. I want steps on how to figure it out. I really don't get it and please be very precise.

I also need help on these kinds

-2x + 8 = 2x + 4

2(f + 3) + 4f = 6 + 6f

I really don't get it. Even if you do tell me the answers these questions are Reteach questions. I don't turn these in for any credit.

Light travels at a speed of 3.00 x 10 ( to the power of 10 ) cm/s. What is the speed of light in kilometers per hour?

I tried to solve this by changing units but got confused by the exponents. The answer is 1.08 x 10 (to the power of 9) km/hr but how do they get this?

ok so the question is
y=-2|3(x+4)|+5
so i know that it is a verticle compression of 2 and a horizontal stretch by 1/3
the normal step pattern is over 1 up 1 over 1 up 1
so does that mean i multiply all over 1s by 1/3 and divide all up 1s by 2?
