Convert them to mixed fractions first:
9/2 - 11/6

Get a common denominator of 6:
27/6 - 11/6

Subtract:
16/6

Reduce:
8/3

Turn back into a mixed fraction:
2 2/3

i think you have to find a common denominator. like "6" would be the denomintor. then you would say "6" goes into "6" one time, "1" times "5" = "5". the bottom fraction is 5/6 then 6 goes into "6" one time, 3 * 1 is 3 that would be 3/6 but you cant subtract that so i think you add 3 and 6 which would be 9, so then its 9/6 - 5/6 = 4/6 you have to borrow from the whole number "4" which now is 3. 3 - 1 = 2. so the answer should be 2 4/6 in lowest terms would be 2 2/3. but of course double check me

Make common denominators first.

Then I would turn them into improper fractions so that it will be easier to subtract.

Once you get your answer, you can make it a mixed number again.
