OK - I've never been much of a chemist - only continued with physics and bio at school, and now am heading geology-way at uni, and with the excitement of geochemistry, I'm starting to become a little more interested in these things called elements!!

So, I'm figuring Helium makes balloons float cause it's got such a low atomic mass, right? So is lighter than air? But Hydrogen is the lightest element isn't it, and pretty abundant - so what are the advantages of using Helium rather than Hydrogen?

From anyone else who is or was a chemistry major like me, especially if you are now a successful professor or Phd....I would appreciate ANY words of encouragement even if it is just one word or sentence. Stories of when you were in college would be so great right now. I really don't have anyone to talk to. I am so totally burned out right now. I am an A student in all my subjects but the semester is nearly over and I really don't think I have what it takes emotionally mentally or physically to pass the finals, let alone enroll for the upcoming semester.
THANKS!

Can someone please show me how to use gravimetric analysis and determine the gravimetric factor ect ect in a precipitation stoich problem, you jsut combine the middle of the equation or something to get the factor dont you,

If 0.2145 g sample Ni is dissolved and precipitated with excess DMG what mass of NiDMG is produced
( Molar mass DMG -116.1194 g/mol)
- solve using gravimetric factor

Btw no need to explain the basics I know all that, like how to convert to mols and grams ect ect

For each of the following sets of atoms and ions, arrange the memebers in order of increasing size:
(a) Se(2-), Te(2-), Se
(b) Co(3+), Fe(2+), Fe(3+)
(c) Ca, Ti(4+), Sc(3+)
(d) Be(2+), Na(+), Ne.

The numbers in the ( ) represent the number of electrons added or taken away.

I just want to check if my answers are right.
(a) Se < Se(2-) < Te(2-)
(b) Fe(3+) < Co(3+) < Fe(2+)
(c) Ti(4+) < Sc(3+) < Ca
(d) Be(2+) < Na(+) < Ne
