The first person to answer both of these questions correctly gets a best answer rating as soon as it lets me (24 hours). The answers are all I require, I don't need an explanation for why the answer is the correct answer. I know both of the answers and I will post the explanations once I chose the best answer. I'm not claiming these questions are difficult - this is just a way to kill some time :-)

1.) Why does hot air rise?
2.) How can you add or remove large amounts of heat from a substance without changing its temperature?

Good luck!

I've noticed that the odor of an object doesn't seem to wear out over time. If odor is simply molecules flying off the object into the air, why don't these molecules "wear out"? If you have something real smelly, like, a perfumed candle, it still seems to smell just as strong, 20 years later. Is the mass of this candle actually decreasing because these molecules are constantly being thrown off? Will the candle actually weigh less after 30 years? etc.

I live in Florida where it is HOT.... The specs on my truck say I got an 11.1 gallon fuel tank, yet everytime I try to fill it up I can only get about 9.5 gallons in her... Does this have something to do with the temperature of the fueling coming out of the underground tank? I mean if the fuel was colder I could probably put close to that 11 gallons in? So, I'm getting ripped off everytime I fill up because I'm buying expanded fuel? Whats yoru take on this?

One of the ingredients of soda is carbon dioxide. As we know, carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas. Does that mean that by opening up a can of soda, you are contributing to global warming? Obviously these are relatively small amounts, but if you drink a can of soda (or seltzer) everyday can it impact the environment?

For the sake of the question, disregard the fossil fuels it takes to ship the sodas and the metals it takes to make the soda can; I'm interested in the impact of the carbon dioxide itself.

I am starting Uni in September to do a chemistry (with forensic studies) degree. I wondered if it was a good thing to do and if there were a lot of good (well paid!) jobs at the end of it! I initially wanted to do a forensic science degree but was persuaded that this was the better one to do as it involved lots more chemistry which would open more job routes.
