Does anyone know the history behind the name of the genus Argonauta, a type of octopus? It seems to me that it should be related to the story of Jason and the Argonauts somehow but I can't figure out how. While you're at it, if you know the history behind the name Argonaute, a protein involved in RNAi, I would like to know that as well. Please include your references if possible. Thanks!

Considering we know so little about the brain and it is assumed we currently only use 10% of our brains ability, it doesn't seem too far fetched to me that one day (perhaps generations down the road) as humans evolve telepathy will be possible.

150 years ago if you said sending sound and video through the air and receiving it somewhere else with perfect clarity was possible you would have been considered mad. Yet today we take TV and radio for granted. To me this gives rise to keeping an open mind in terms of sending thought waves as well, but I am not a scientist so I would like to hear from those in the field of science.

I'm not sure if this question belongs in biology, psychology, mysteries of the universe or what, but it is meant as a serious question, so serious answers please.

It concerns something we ALL do at one time or another: flatulate (in layman's terms: fart). And though I can't prove it, I believe it is absolutlely true that while people notice some of their methane may in fact be rank, the perpetrator believes the smell is either actually GOOD (as in my case, or I think so anyway), or at the very least, our own slices of natural cheese do NOT stink as bad as another person's -- even a loved one's. Why is this? There must be a reason.

I can cut a silent fart in a crowded elevator, blame it on someone else if a scene is created, and savor the diffused aftermath for a full minute sometimes. But let someone else do that and I am livid. Their gas really and truly is NASTY -- unlike mine. I am CERTAIN I'm not the only one like this. Truly, I believe everyone is.

But WHY?

my bf has brown eyes, but his mother and sister have blue eyes and from his father's side they are all also blue eyed except for him and his father. so genetically i would preasume that he carries dominant genes in having blue eyes.

i instead, have brown eyes and all of my relatives and family are brown eyed. i have had cousins (brown eyed) that have married brown eye men and have ended up with blue and green eyed kids.

so...

thinking along the lines that i have recessive genes in having blue eyed kids, would that make me possible of having blue eyed kids with my bf if we ever got married and got kids?

or else how does it work with the recessive and dominant thing??

(i studied it in hschool long long time ago how it all worked and forgot, but im curious to know again)

thanks
