Does anyone know the history behind the name of the genus Argonauta, a type of octopus? It seems to me that it should be related to the story of Jason and the Argonauts somehow but I can't figure out how. While you're at it, if you know the history behind the name Argonaute, a protein involved in RNAi, I would like to know that as well. Please include your references if possible. Thanks!

I know about Jason and the Argonauts.....I'm asking what, if anything, that has to do with an octopus or an RNAi protein.
