My classmate was chosen for this special annual position. Can you, Manila citizens, or even concerned members of any community, give suggestions and necessary improvements to make her stay at the seat of power effective and worthwhile? She is an empowered student leader, excellent in all areas, both academic and extracurricular, that are entrusted to her.

I am asking on her behalf, and I believe in her sincerity and capacity to effect change in every small way. What should she try to achieve/do for the people?

Sometimes it worries me that we are violent or intimadating to certain small extreme groups when they try to excercise their freedom of speech. If these people are nutters, they will never be anything, but it very much worries me that this can happen.
We must allow people to have whatever views they want.

What does anyone else think?

The government so generously gives me 500 dollars a month to spend shopping. How can I pay them back?
I'm addicted to gas, oil, and absent-mindedness. I live with my parents and on top of that the government gives me extra money as I am on social security. I have been nauseous tonight. I acknowledge that I have some health problems, it seems unnecessary for the government to give me more money, when money is not what I need. The government has accounted for me, why do they need to give me money. If my parents will continue to abandon the situation, it is going to be an unbelievable fiscal situation. The money is being wasted. The whole situation is a very sad one in my opinion. My parents are doing the compassionate thing, but, the extra money I'm getting is feeding my consumer spending habits. I'd like to move from my parents, and THEN really see the value of what the governmetn is giving me. It will turn from hobby spending money to too little to even live on.

Yet China can have NO OTHER future than that of peace and democracy if one listens to the "wisdom" of the day. That Wal-Mart's daily profiteering from and investing in Communism for two decades, with both Clinton's help, to avoid living wages at home and undermine American labor, enriching and saving a failed regime that murdered tens of millions of it's own people to maximize company profit is GOOD for the Chinese people!? This argument is as stupid and insulting today as it ever was and sadly even educated and well-meaning people puke the Hillary line despite all our expense. Wake up please, WAKE UP! Hillary and Bill Clinton, Robson and Jim Walton and David Glass and Lee Scott are traiters and should meet justice and WAL-MART IS AN OPERATING NATIONAL SECURITY RISK THAT MUST BE DISMANTLED! The future of the free world is at stake. If you choose to defend these people then first answer my question. You cant free a slave by enriching the owner so please stop asserting that stupidity!

On NPR today she was speaking and had mentioned that many of our nations failures in regard to golbal warming were because there are men making the decisions. This is not the exact wording however I was left shocked.
I am insulted as a man and will make sure never to vote for her now.
I am sick and tired of all her sexist remarks.
If I am wrong about this please be specific in telling my why.
If I ever made this comment in reverse I would without question be labeled a sexist.

I was just wondering how many Americans actually support the North American Union which is being put in place behind the scenes which will merge Canada, U.S., and Mexico as one union like the EU or European Union. This may be why the borders are wide open with no real incentive to secure them, also maybe why the U.S. dollar is equal to the Canadian and Mexican money so we may have the new Amero as the new currency for all 3 countries. WHEN, not if this happens get ready to lose your country as the bill of rights will be gone as well as the constitution and our sovereignty. I am not makng this up, look it up for yourselves. America is doomed and you people let it happen. Go back to sleep, watch your teen idol show, or whatever else you were doing in your happy little world.

My suggestions is to keep the current system with one tweak. The Justices would have to stand a vote of confidence from the people in the next presidential election year, at least one year after nomination.
The question could be phrased as follows, "Shall Justice Smith be retained on the Supreme Court?"
I would make it so that at least 2/3 of people that voted for the President (not of registered voters) would have to say "no" in order to remove a Justice.

They do not want to be, or will not except the truth?
A few examples.
When I bring up some of the current events relevant to Americas foreign policy and the direction our country is heading. I often get a prompt response like...
A. I do not discuss politics.
B. I don't talk to friends about politics or not in public.
C. This is not the place to talk about that.

Let's look at these.
A. If one does not discuss an idea how then can he test it for faults and accuracies?
B. Do many of us really live in such fear of what others will think that we mute ourselves? How many other factors feed into this fear of that destroys the 1st amendment? Economic insecurities, (possible loss of job or status)...
C. It seems that no place is a good place to commune with our friends and neighbors. Are we incapable of discussing philosophical view points with one another without having moral bias emotionally disrupt the conversation?

Why is the country ran by a handfull of people? I know the citizens vote for some things, but laws are made and passed by a few leaders. Why is it that they can govern how we live our lives when they are not any better than the people themselves?

"Research shows presence of women in leadership raises the standards of ethical behavior and lowers corruption."

Since women have had a secondary role in United States leadership, income, education, and available capital to invest, as based on United States statistics, this quote by an American political leader seemed worthy of reflection.

I was once in an old hotel room in Los Angeles, and witnessed an altercation on the sidewalk below. It escalated as more policemen arrived. The one was being beat by the circle of officers, and I couldn't countenance it any longer, so I yelled at them to stop.

One cop looked up and yelled for me to shut up, or I'd be arrested.

Ashamedly, I closed the window and watched the man pummelled, then taken away in the back of a police car, though he obviously was bleeding profusely.

This incident (1975) has since caused me to fear government, as there is really no one to watch the watchers.

I'm an average guy. I believe the average American will one day discuss, before a hungry death, what should have been done as we watched our rights being erased, one victim at a time.

Is there a way to organize the little courage left in us, without creating a target that will be destroyed, as the powers that be 'save America' from 'homegrown terrorists?'

In other words, are we doomed?
