This country is in the shape it's in because "We the people" have allowed it through apathy. Politicians vote by the vocal minority rather than the silent majority. That's our fault. I agree that our rights are slowly being eroded because of our own apathy.
This isn't the first time that this has occurred in history. There have been many great nations that have fallen due to a disconnect between those that governed and those that are governed for whatever reason. History repeats itself but you would actually have to pay attention in school to realize what is happening to us. Unfortunately, most can't even remember what half of the century Columbus landed in the country so how can we expect them to actually study history enough to compare past failures to our current situation?
If the disconnect becomes great enough then revolt will follow but we're probably not at that point because we would rather hang on to our material luxuries rather than buck the system. Education is a prime example of how we have allowed the greatest nation on earth to have one of the worst educational systems in the world of industrialized nations. Why? Because we won't elect officials that will make it their number one priority and personally sacrifice to achieve the best.

This is one of the age old questions; only know that it never really changes all that much. It is just that sometimes the few that rule; rule for the better of the many. But mostly they do not. Right now in America would be a shining example of ruling to the determent of the many. The only way that it changes at all if for the Many to cast off the Few; and then get a new set of a Few. This is the only change that is ever made and perhaps the only one that ever can be made. The Few change from 1 to 10 to 1000, but it is always a small fraction of the Many. It is just that way- Nihil sub sola novum est.

We have not seen what our grandparents have lived, and have no time to put any deep thoughts to our history, therefore wouldn't know what it looked like if it were heading right at us at a fast pace. Nothing seems to jar the American of today into how so much of our lifestyles are in great dangers of being under a rule so powerful It be too late to bring it down as you realize all you have to combat it is dirt clauds and rocks, because you LET THEM take your ability to defend your rights

The control of the people is in the hands of a few elite..
The media controls thoughts and perceptions...
we are interconnected, the people themselves are as bad as the leaders, i think... if we are truthful and pure we can see the lies in others....
