Can I scare them away? I've plugged some obvious holes in the foundation. What would repel them? What would make my crawl space undesireable? The colder weather seems to attract them to my home.

we do not cover it over the winter. We have always covered it before but just to ease my curiosity, what will happen if we don't cover it during a harsh, New England winter?

I live in the uk, my house is over run with spiders. I have to kill them at the moment cos they're massive and frighten me to death. They're also territorial, i.e., run towards you rather than away! They're making a mess when I squash them I'd rather have a repellant to keep them out the house, prevention rather than death! I'd like to know if there's a repellant I can make.
