I know that some skateboarders are upright citizens, only performing this activity in skate parks, etc.
But I have seen more public property damaged every year, that our tax money pays for, by irreponsible skateboarders. In addition, new public works projects have to install anti-skateboarding rails, bolts or other materials to avoid being ruined.
The money raised by the tax on skateboards would go to pay for these ruin-prevention methods, with any left over (if any) going to build legal skate parks for the law-abiding.
If you have other ways to combat this, share them. This is the only one I can come up with this evening.
