Well if I were a golf course owner and a golf ball burst into smoke on my course I would be a tiny bit ticked yeah. Okay on the serious side. Smoke has to be caused by something, right? Well if that something happens to be fire then it might catch the field on fire or make a black mark then the person would be mad. Or if it was like a smoke bomb type of thing it would leave a paint like residue. Or if it is baby powder then they might be mad about having to clean it.

You have to choose your location correctly. Must not be too close to the clubhouse where the greens-keepers may be watching. They sure do not like you to mess up their hadiworks.
Pranks is always fun, so good timing is important and the lesser the people knew what you are up to, you will generate a lot of laughs. Just make sure the prank golf ball does not turn into a fireball! Then the joke is on you!

It won't mess the course up, but it can get messy. The ball is compressed baby powder. When you smack it it disintegrates and spreads out.
