I am looking to get my son an xbox but don't have $300 for the 360, is it worthwhile to get the old style or are they gonna stop making games for them like I heard PS2 was doing when PS3 comes out?

your best bet on current gen is the PS2...they only stopped making PS1 games a couple years ago and Sony still has several A+ titles on the way

Next gen is going to be undecided but for pricing purposes...its looking like it will break this way...

Nintendo Wii - $250
XBOX 360 - $400 - don't go for the $300 version
PS3 - $500-600 depending on which package you want

xBox sadly is becoming outdated, just like the N64 is today -- the xBox will be in a year. Just wait for the price on the 360 to go down, that's what most gamers (the smart ones atleast) usually do.

Right now it's a price and demand thing, the demand is high, so they can sell it at whatever price they wish. Wait 6-8 months (tops) and it will drop about $50-100.

Just buy him the Premium Xbox 360 not the core, cause the core Xbox 360 (299.99) cant play Xbox games. The premium Xbox 360(399.99) can play Xbox games!

Like all systems. Once they release a new console, the old one becomes obsolete within a year or so.
