Beer, Wine & Spirits - October 2007

I am new to wine and am looking into buying some, but am unsure of which one to get. The last time i tasted wine it was kinda gross. I am sure there is a wine out there that suits me best. Im used to drinking orange juice and vodka. Can someone help me choose a wine that would suit my taste buds because this is all new to me.

I have a opened bottle that I've had sitting in my room.. obviously the cap IS on it...but it is not refrigerated and this has been for a few months..is it still ok to drink? thanks

well i drank a lot of alcohal a few days ago.. like a half bottal of straight vodka.. i didnt eat with it or anything... i was my first time ever drinking like that.. afterwords i found out i should have eaten...
the next day i had a really bad hangover obviously... like vomiting and bloody bowel movments...
but its been like three days and i still dont feel right.. i am still noxious i have a headache and i am like really abnormaly moody...
is this something i should worry about or what..
and what can i do for it?

I am taking a bartending class through my Union. I am mastering the drinks and am participating but the problem is that I don't drink and neither does my family and I want to get more practice with pouring and using the jigger. With our class size, I might get to make one or two drinks a class (class meets every Monday). I really don't want to buy a bunch of booze just to pour it into the sink. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

If you put a litre of vodka in a plastic bag and froze it cryogenically (liquid nitrogen), would it become a solid? If so, when it left the frozen state (via natural defrosting, not heating), would it vaporize or return to a liquid? And how long would that take?

My topic is alcohol, I decided to narrow it down a little by just doing the different ways that people use alcohol and the effects that it has on different people. even if it doesn't taste as good, why can't there be diet beer that contains no calories or fat? diet soda tastes weird until you get used to it, then after long enough, regular pop tastes awful. anyway, why do companies not make a beer lower than 80-100 calories?

I want to be a wine connoisseur. I'm interested in having wine with special meals. But every wine I have tried hasn't tasted good to me. I did like Martin & Rossi Tosti Asti. But I didn't like Japanese Plum Wine, YellowTail, or Lambrusco. I like wine coolers :) I know that's not real wine, but that's the only alcoholic beverage that I do like because it's sweet. Do you have any suggestions of what wine I might like?
Or if I should join a wine tasting club to try for myself? If so, please tell me how a wine tasting is operated. All I know is that you taste wine and then spit it out. Is there talking amongst guest, note taking for future reference, etc? Thanks!

I've driven by a beer brewery and it smelled like mashed potatoes and gravy?!? why doesn't the finished beer taste like potatoes? My dad loves his beer, the real stuff. None of that bud-light crap (no offense to those who like it lol) He loves Sam Adams Oktoberfest, and really dark stout beers.
