Here are my criteria:
1. I'm willing to endure hot summers so I can have mild winters. I'd much rather burn than freeze.
2. Relatively low cost of living in order to have a great quality of life
3. Amiable and easy-going people
4. Easy access to art museums, live music, many ethnic restaurants, and eccentric neighborhoods
5. Close to great recreational opportunities (hiking, biking, boating, etc.)

So far, my top pick is Texas, because it's a large state that is on the move and has very friendly people. Of course, I'm open to other options, otherwise I wouldn't be asking this. I currently live in Kentucky, and it's boring and unfriendly; I want out.

we just got home (been gone since noon) and found our front door wide open! it was scary so i called the cops and they came and checked the house out. the first thing the officer said to me was 'both your laptops are still here so i don't think anybody broke in' i laughed but was still a little scared. i feel retarded now for freaking out when it was probably my fault for not making sure the door latched when i closed it.
