Hey...I have this song that i heard on the radio that i really REALLY like. A guys sings it he has kind of a weird name...i'm sorry i dont know the name of the guy or the song but it just came out a little while ago....the guy can hit these really high notes...does anyone know who I'm talking about?

Rock music used to be loud and in your face. It was rebellious, dangerous and over the top. Groups like Megadeth, Def Lepard and Ozzy was what rock was all about. Now its just about a few wussies whining about their girlfriends. How and why did it stray so much. Yeah Nirvana was good but it turned the rock fans into pansies.

I'm talking PRE-1985... If the extent of your knowledge of punk is Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, Rancid and MAYBE some old stuff like the Ramones & the Sex Pistols, please don't bother responding.

I'm talking about bands like Wire, Pere Ubu, Mission of Burma, the Adverts, the Voidoids, et al.... the more obscure, the better!

Reasons: (1) Worst bassline ever. Really try to hear the rythym of it...none. (2) Absolutly the most repetitive, redundant guitar solo that never frigin' ends. And that sucks because its not a difficult one. I love how all these rock and roll old people say that it's the best rock solo of all time but its played on nylon strings. Yeah really hardcore guys. (3) No one likes a whiny voice. When he says "Pink champagne on ice" and "just cant kill the beast". Holy crap that guys voice sucks. All blubbery. (4) The worst part of this song is obviously the solo, but the next thing is that everyone and their uncles brother LOVE this song. Theres nothing good about it that a human ear would react pleasantly to. Thats why i believe that we are closer than ever to Orwell's "1984". If someone tells you "this is a great song", test it, put it to trial. Dont just go along with what someone says, like your grandma, dancing, telling you this Eagles song is the best. Haha. You know thats happened alot.

Hey guys, the sweet sixteen on the radio at 4:00. So, thanks to everyone who help me have bands qualify for the tournament. Much like the last question I asked I am interested in gathering perspective. I see a lot of "you don't know what emo is" and I'll admit it's true. I know who it used to refer to, but obviously things have changed. I am genuinely interested in having a better understanding, and am curious about friendly and valid discussion on the topic.
