I thought it might be the band Sweet. But it was the wrong song. It may be an 80's song. I think the singer has a high voice.

Are you maybe thinking of the song "Extra! Extra! (Read All About It)" by Ralph Carter? It was popular in the 80's. Ralph Carter was an actor on the sitcom Good Times.

If I didn't know better....I'd say you heard from either The Who or a band contracted in 1975 to remake The Who's legendary "Rock Opera", titled "Tommy", first released in the UK in 1968.

Sweet did a song called "Action" right about the same time--one that to this day is still ahead of it's time.

Interesting note: most classic rock FM radio stations play (and I guess it's out of respect for The Who) the orginial version of "Pinball Wizard", when Elton John did a AMAZING piano treatment of the song in 1975. Even Juliard piano students look at the sheet music of "Pinball Wizard" and are in awe of what EJ was capable of with the piano.

I think it's actually "Extra! Extra! Read all about it. Pinball wizard in a Miracle Cure. Extra! Extra! Read all about it. Extra" The song Miracle Cure sung by the "newsboy" from the rock-opera Tommy performed by The Who.
Besides the studio version there is a recording with the London Symphony Orchestra and the soundtrack of the movie Tommy (1975), all with different performers.
