I am a guitarist. Ive been playing the guitar for 3 years and I've been able to make my own music. The problem is, I cant write lyrics, I suck at it!. Therefore, I would be needing someone to help me write this lyrics for my song. I want this song to be ''alternative'' and similar to the songs like:
Hey there delilah or Here without you by 3 doors down.
Most importantly it should be sad. The lyrics should be sad, a little happy. I've already made the music and now i need the lyrics. I would like to name this song ''Fly Away Love'' and i would like these words to be in the first line of the chorus. For e.g. Fly Away Love
My heart is broken and Im sittin here alone..

How does the process work of gaining permission to record somebody else's song? Also, what if you plan on adding some of your own lyrics and music to a song? How does that work? Do you need to get permission from the songwriters with regard to the new material? Any info on this would be appreciated.

The chorus line says "You are a God and I am not" and thats all I can remember, it sounds like it may be sung by 3 Doors Down or maybe Lifehouse, but I don't know. I heard a song on CMT Pure a few minutes ago and really liked it, but I didn't catch the singer's name. It's a song with the lyrics "Take me home, home, home home." It's not John Denver. It's a young male, blonde hair with a very rough voice. His voice doesn't match his age and that's why I liked it. Also, in the song, he sings about him, his daddy and some boy named ____ (I forgot lol). The song has a bluesy feel. Part of the video takes place on a bus and the rest is on a porch. Thanks!
