Hi Stitch
I've Interveiwed Gary Brooker two or three times, there isn't a "real" explanation of the lyrics they're just "of their time",eg: The Summer Of love (1967),drugs, psychedelia ect.
Ringo told me it was his fave record of the 60s

I've been under the impression that it was about "The Canterbury Tales" but I could be mistaken. Speaking of the group's name, they took it from the name of their drug dealer's pedigree Siamese cat. They misread it, however, and that has confused students of Latin ever since. It should be "Procul Harun", which roughly translates as "beyond these things".

Personally, i think it sounds as if he was preforming and later met a girl, she did not realise who he was until after, and then was starstruck...
