Haven't heard any new tunes from him in ages, is he still around? Last time I saw him on an interview he'd gotten clean & looked better than he did 30 years ago. Sure would like to hear some new music from him though.

Is there a reason for it? I listen to 2 country stations in my area, (SW Missouri), and I listen to a country station online that's from St.Louis, and all three stations are playing Garth Brooks more often. Is this happening in your area? If it is, why do you think it is happening?

You used to hear the term "country and western music" alot which seems to me to mean that they are two different (also probably similar) types of music. So what's the difference--or is there one?

Well folks country music used to be our music, that good ole traditional country music. Bring back the honky tonkin cheating love songs, trucking songs, bluegrass songs, I got tiger by the tail songs, I wanna hear old dogs, children and water melon wine, red necks, white socks, and blue ribbon beer songs, and heartaches by the number. Webb Pierce singing "I'm walking The Dog" and Faron Young's "I Wanna Live Fast, Love Hard, and Die Young,"...Is this too much to ask for?
Now all the records sound the same. Country music has changed. Nashville now wants to reach the upper class of our society. The blue collar worker is no longer a part of country music anymore. The words to most songs don't make sense and the CD's'' are way too much. Come on America!, what's wrong with this picture?

Both are from guy singers, my shop class has to listen to country while we work and today I didn't have my ipod. I was needing to know the name of these 2 songs I heard while working in the class.

The first, I don't really remember much of it but I believe what I heard the most in the song was "we can't go back again because that was then"

The other is the main one I want, and the hardest to really remember since it was early in the morning. It was from a guy singer too. I don't remember any exact quotes but it was about a girl leaving the guy and that he may be okay with it. He said that he wanted her back and something about "since she first time you looked at me"(I believe that was how it went), that the new guy better take care of her, that she was his first love. Crap, I wished I could remember more because I really need this song.

If you can give names of the songs or a list of options, I can go on youtube and see if it is it. Thanks a lot guys.
