like the hair metal era of pop/rock music, there were only a few bands that really stood out, like Van Halen and AC/DC. what bands have the skills and passion to stay around. cause i know most of these bands are just around cause its popular, no because they love music. i think AFI will survive, since they were around long before it was popular and they have 10000 times the skill of the bands they're grouped with. what do you think?

there is an old rock song that starts out as guitar in the begining (i think distorted but maybe not) and then at the end goes to an island type vibe (steel drums and such) and then back to rock. does anyone know this song? i don't know any words, just that instrumentation. anyone know?

If a band is scheduled at a venue, how do they reserve the time? Do they pay for the spot? or does the venue just rely on a portion of the ticket sales?

I am assuming you are talking about your fretting hand... correct?
I developed serious tendonitus issues years ago, and some advice from another pro player literally saved my playing career.

Your 3rd finger is your weakest finger in your hand. Trying to reach with it is what causes problems. The solution I was given saved my playing career, as I said. Use your pinky and third finger together for all notes of your bass from the 7th fret to the nut of the bass. The frets are so wide in that part of the neck that it will tear your hand up if you use the "one finger per fret method" used by guitarists. Guitarists can get away with it because the frets on a guitar are not nearly as wide as those on a bass guitar. Reach with your pinky, not your third finger. ABove the 7th fret, it becomes easier.
