I would categorize 80's Hard Rock/Metal with Classic Rock......
.....and we'll just have to wait and see if the whole "Musicians" thing gets out of control (which it too probably will...)

Fonzie, good point.....I too would've figured that Classic Rock would be categorized with "Rock" but this would be to avoid the "Emo", Justin Timberlake, and goofy-pop crap that's out there today while browsing for stuff that legitimately interests Classic Rock fans and musicians...

so true i h8 going through the rock catagory and seeing ppl(who actually aint even rock)like fall out boy and afi and blah blah blah
what we need is a catagory like a catagory thats called 'crap' 2 put them type of bands and the ppl who like them and this catagory should be renamed rock n' roll only were its just questions about some of the gr8est bands ever like led zep, ac/dc, def leppard, and etc.
you made a good pt.

Performing Arts already has it's own category so I don't see why musicians shouldn't have their own category.
As for the Classic Rock thing then you'd have to divide every genre into its respective subgenres and it'd turn into one big mess for the automatic question categorizer, people finding their way around the site, getting to them, it'd all end up being a big mess for the site. I supported the Music being split into these categories but I think that they should stay this way for the sake of simplicity on the site.

Musicians? Maybe.
Classic Rock...not quite. Rock, Pop, and Metal should have their separate categories too.

Classic Rock, Pop, Punk and all other genres should have their own category. It is tiresome scrolling through immature pop freaks' questions. And who are the ignorant ones asking for comparisons between Carole King and Janis Joplin? Obviously they have no idea who they are referring to as there is no basis for comparison. Classic rock fans should not have to deal with teeny boppers who despise us. YAHOO??? ARE YOU LISTENING???
