I'm a newbie in recording. Just went through "Guerilla's guide to home recording". It highly recommends using compression whenever possible. I'm currently looking to buy Boss CS-3 compressor/sustainer for the guitar, but was thinking if it makes any sense to route vocals though this too. If not, what is the unit I should be looking for (for vocals only, I mean). Thanks!

I've heard this song on the oldies station but I can't remember all the lyrics and they didn't say who sang it after it played. Part of it was 'you..taught me how to..(???)' or showed me how to, and then it goes 'yes it's true...I love you' and the whole song is kind of slow and a little bit haunting/creepy...it sounds like it's from the 60's but I can't find ANYTHING about it. Please help, thanks!!

I saw the music video for it once on CMT. In the video, he's fixing up an old house. It's like Fixing Something New or something like that. It's a newer song. (1 year or less old)

Well, I have a pretty eclectic style... But here are some of my favorite songs that represent the kind of stuff I'm looking for:

Nothing In My Way -- Keane
Somewhere Only We Know -- Keane
My Immortal -- Evanescence
The Scientist -- Coldplay
Hide and Seek -- Imogen Heap
Staralfur -- Sigur Ros (not sure if any of you have heard of them...)
Writing to reach You -- Travis

I like anything that satisfies me melodically that seems like it would fit in with any songs...and I tired of depending on iTunes for my music.

Any reccommendations?

The 3rd fret on the high E is dead. It's my acoustic. I have been playing for a long time and I'm good, but I don't know how to figure this out. Do I have to adjust the truss rod? Iv'e looked down the neck and it doesn't seem to be warped in any place and I do leave it in the gig bag when I'm not using it and I do not leave it in hot then cold hot then cold etc..... It has not been exposed to excessive moisture or heat.
