Music - 23 February 2007

Hi, I'm going to be playing this and I was just wondering if anyone had any information on this song at all? I know the composer, Isaac Albeniz, this song was actually written for a piano (and it's crazy how well it transcribes to guitar!), but I'm going to be presenting it rather formally for an audience, and I already know they want some background on it. ANY INFO WILL HELP!!!! Thanks!!! :).

It is sung by a black woman during the days of Cherelle, Pebbles, SOS Band, David Peaston, Sheila E., Prince, Vanity 6, DeBarge and Morris Day and The Time. I'm a 70's born child and music in the 80's is true music with real bands and not much use of synthesizers.

...The Pogues 'The band played Waltzing Matilda'? I like Shane McGowan's style but is there anyone similar?

I love songs as simple as, and with the tempo, of that above; also songs that cover an 'epic' theme, or tell a story, or cover war stories or old yarns (like modern Irish folk).

What can you recommend, moving away from the Pogues' style but still related? Thanks!
