I have read many books and I am interested in starting a record lable and a publishing company. But I still dont understand what is the difference between owning the masters of an album and the copyright of and album(songs).

also when you write a song and record it and use a producers beat(instrumental) when you copyright the song do you own the copyright to the beat also or do the producers keep the copyright?

when it comes down to writing songs for other artist? how does that work do you charge an upfront fee plus royalties, or do you just get royalties? when you right a song for another artist you own the copyright to that song, right? so can you like re-sell that song?

I've collected records for some time, and me and my friends would usually tape them and then put them, away. Recently I began to digitalize these like new albums, and had just done Led Zepplin IV. On listening to it I found that the last two words "To Heaven", were missing. I thought I made some mistake in copying and did it again, again the song ended "buying a stairway". I have never heard of this is this just possibly an early release that was improperly made, or improperly edited? Could it be of value to collector?

My daughter will be starting middle school and wants to play the flute. She likes listening to rock, pop, rap and r&b music.... that is totally different from the music that she will be learning to play in band. So should I encourage her to learn a different instrument so that she can also learn to play the music that she enjoys listening to?

I don't know WHERE to find this song--I LOVE the theme song from the original 1971 movie, "Brian's Song." (starring James Caan and Billy Dee Williams) It is such a beautiful song. I love all types of musics but my 13 year old sister has told me that one of my favorite songs, "Love Like Winter" by AFI is an emo song. I thought emo songs were depressing. Love Like Winter makes me want to get up and shake my booty--not want to grab a gallon of ice cream and cry. I always equated emo with goth music. But then my sister tells me there's a difference. She proceeded to explain the difference but I suddenly developed a headache midway through her explaination. Maybe you guys can help me out. Straight to the point please [I'd like some examples of groups and songs]
