I'm Asian. Why do my black friends (before they really get to know me) assume I don't listen to hip-hop/ R&B like Lil Jon, E-40, Keak da Sneak, Ciara, etc? Why do my white friends assume I don't listen to rock (or punk rock...etc.) like Greenday, Panic at the Disco, AFI, etc? Does this even have anything to do with race, or is it just how you carry yourself?

I happen to like Kool & The Gang, but in their 1st incarnation: as a predominately instrumental jazz-funk band. I can take or leave their second, even more popular sound: a pop-oriented R&B act. Any thoughts?

Why do they spell bands wrong like Led Zepplin or Zeplin instead of Led Zeppelin? or Lynard skynard instead of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Also why do they give the songs the wrong name and artist?
