Obviously not all people hate it, the rappers seem to be making a load of money. Tastes are different for everybody, do you like Irish Harp Music, Opera, Country Western or Yodeling? Music is a gift, one size does not fit all.

I think a basic look at the cultures that spawned the two popular music archtypes at the moment, Rock and Hip hop can help you discern why its disliked to an extreme with prejudiced by some people.

The human condition is a unique one, in that not only can we adapt, at our center we feel a need to. Even the most spoiled of people have a deep seeded need for struggle, for a need to adapt to a new situation or moreso, adapt the world around them.

What is the culture that has spawned popular rock. Largely suburban, middle class, and more often than not white families. This 'between' generation has no great struggle, nor great war. Thus they create one, an emotional struggle. The music reflects that largely.

Hip hop however, while there are exceptions, very notable ones, is largely party music. Becuase the culture that spawned it, urban, often poor communities have a struggle, a fiscal struggle, a struggle far less incopreal as the previously mentioned society. The music makes you want to forget your problems, to for a moment relax and let the beat take you.

This is as much of an oil and water situation as you can get. It results in the first group "THIS IS NONSENSE HOW CAN THEY JUST DO THAT" and the latter group "What is their problem?"

Even the most amatuer of social observers can see this. I could write a book on it but I think my point is made.

I hate Rapp because I can't understand what's being said.I also
don't like the bad language - not just the cursing/swearing. I mean the bad use of the English language.
I can accept "Hip Hop", it is a form of music,& I try to be tolerant
of others.I still would'nt want hip hop played wherever I am.
Besides, Rapp & HipHop should'nt be played as loud as most
people do.It's your music not everybody's.

Because it promotes a lifestyle that leads nowhere. It emphasizes being stupid as oppposed to getting a good education. It glorifies drugs and alcohol abuse. It mistreats women and shows zero responsibility for being a good father. It produces nothing of lasting substance, only a short term high. Look at the people who most identify themselves with this kind of music. They are multigenerational losers sitting around drinking Colt 45s and waiting for the welfare check.

I don't know why everyone hates it. I can tell you some of the things that bother me about it ~ though I don't hate it. I get frustrated about hearing cussing and derogatory remarks all the time in it. Though I have heard just as many rap songs without that problem and they do seem to be getting better.

I don't like filling my head with songs about sex and drugs and where every other word is a nasty obscenity.

I like the old school hip-hop.. from the 50's-80's anything after the 80's is trash.

Nothing wrong with that music but some people like me would rather to listen to soft music like Jazz, Blue....
Like you want to drink water instead of Punch cause it's too sweet for you that's all.
You can't make people like what you like....all kind of people make the world goes around...hihi

Some people don't like what they sing about and the sound of the music. It's basically something they can't relate to. Calling it trash or dumb is rude.

Most of it promotes violence and is demeaning to women. It all seems to have the same thumps-wumpa beat all the time that makes it hard to differentiate between one song and another. They also steal riffs from other songs
