Here’s what I mean: The Flash once fought a villain (Abra Kadabra, IIRC) who convinced him that he did NOT develop super speed by getting struck by lightning and drenched with chemicals. He told Barry Allen that he had been lying paralyzed in a hospital bed with his injuries and burns ever since then. (He almost succeeded in making Barry believe that it was all a fantasy Barry had in his coma, and never trying to use super speed after he was released!)

There must be a lot of other heroes who could be retconned out of their power like this. Who would you tell, “No, that’s not what REALLY happened; it was like this….” And then prove to them that they didn’t have powers after all…? Could you bring them out of their self-delusion and back to sanity…?

Arguably the most driven of the classic superheroes, what would he do if he could no longer see? Batgirl adapted by becoming Oracle, a computer expert, but what would Batman do? Just quit, or become some kind of 'Daredevil' style blind martial artist, or some kind of guru? What do you reckon?

In early issues of the Elementals comic, the bad guys were shown doing horrible tortures to people in hopes that they might manifest super powers in the stress of the situation. The same thing has been used in fiction, to discover teleportation in The Stars My Destination.

I do not advocate this, the evil is evident. And, as Larry Niven has pointed out in his essay, The Theory and Practice of Teleportation, psychic teleportation either does not exist or it is notoriously unreliable. There have been too many people in deadly danger throughout history, and not enough of them have learned how to teleport away from it, under the stress of the moment, in time to save their lives. [That we have heard of.]

But—do you think it could work for other powers…? If there are people out there with undiscovered talents, mental or physical, what could bring them out?

If you could give awards for the top three best theme songs for animated television shows what would they be?
