Why do schools have the right to look through students phones?

My friend got caught texting in class and when she got her phone taken away the principal looked through all her text messages and her pictures. Why does the school have a right to do that? I mean if they had a tip that she was doing something worng and her parents agreed the school could look through her phone and I wouldn't be asking this, but they didnt. Why doesn't the consitution apply in school to students. It doesn't make any sense at all. When me and my friend asked a teacher about it he said the school can look through your purse if they wanted to. I know she shouldnt have had her phone out in the first place, but comeon. ITS AN INVASION OF PRAICY!! So why are schools aloud to do this?

Do you need something to really brighten your day?

Becuase of the responses of people on here to a question I posted concerning charities, you helped get $10,000 for St. Judes Research Hospital and additional $7,500 to other charities. Awesome! "then you belittle me for asking for help.
This makes no sense! If you can stand up for the student that
was "TAZERED FOR SHOUTING" and the BREAST-FEEDING MOTHER ON "APPLEBYS" then why can you question what happen to me?. It is a known fact that events
that affect blacks are "LESS LIKELY TO BE REPORTED UNLESS IT'S VIOLENCE-THEN IT'S TOLD!
I came to you as a INTELLIGENT CUSTOMER FIRST AND DISABLED-SECOND. I thought you would be upset at how I
was treated from "DAY ONE" and "DEMAND" that the TRUTH
be told. ALL races have people that speak out-there are not many we can go to. That's why it's about doing what's right for
all-not just my color.

HAD I BEEN THE CUSTOMER WITH "BAD BEHAVIOR"
My story would have been told. Please "demand" an "investigation and read all questions listed. Unless you
are afraid to approach the issue. Do we not deserve JUSTICE?.

Anyone know of any Modern Singers like KT Tunstall?

My 12 year old daughter is a huge fan of KT Tunstall, but she has only done two albums so far. So I was wondering if anyone knows some modern singers(She likes older singers/ band like the Beatles and bob dylan...weird huh? It's funny because the rest of her grade seven class, well most of them, are the same. And I thought and kids listened to was rap. I guess I'm officially *Old* :)) like her, that write songs with real lyrics, nice tunes and meaning, could you post it?
P.S: Doesn't have to be country, this is the only place I could really post it :)
