George and Izzy, just thrown together for the sake of it?

Ok I get that they were close friends but she was still pretty into Denny. Then opps they got drunk and IT happened, but what is with the love thing going on with them. I mean ok they had sex but they are not in love, I did not see that at all before, they were just friends.
