Hey, for those of you who ain't Sanjaya fans, you are preaching to the choir. But, did you know that William Shatner had a "Gold" album back in the 70s? He didn't do it because he could sing. Same way with Lief Garret, Hardy Boy Sean Cassidy, Michael J. Fox or Ricky Nelson. Yet they all had albums and singles that went gold and some platinum. None could really sing. Yet they became teen idols and yes, American Idols.

A "Gold" album in the good ole USA means that 500,000 copies have been sold... this could be a single or the entire album / CD. Platinum is a million and diamond is 10,000,000. Over 30,000,000 people watch this show each week. It's obviously the female teen demographic that keeps Sanjaya on the show. And he has never been in the bottom 3 as much as he probably deserves it. If I were Simon, why would I EVER leave the show over this when my entire existance had been about finding top selling "Idols". Isn't he shooting himself in the foot?
