"Flaming" red is good, but the children didn't form an image. What word could I use, other than "fiery" words, to describe bright red to children 3 -7 years old? I'm stumped.

If personification means to give non-humans and objects human traits and qualities (i.e. The wind blows in a wailful choir.), would it still be considered personification if you said a non-human was like a human (i.e. The wind blows like a wailful choir.).
If it's not, what is that called?

I'm looking for insults that can easily fit CRAZY, not just the word stupid. Here are the ones I can think of:

The lights are on, but nobody's home
My elevator doesn't go to the top
I've lost my marbles
Not playing with a full deck of cards

Can you help me think of some more? And do you have any of your own you've made up?
