People use it as an insulting name to call someone.
The dictionary defines a "nimrod" as a hunter (look it up.) Also, a guy named Nimrod in the Bible (Genesis) is described as a mighty hunter. Nowhere can I find it to mean you are stupid. It looks like those misusing the word "nimrod" are the ones that are stupid. What's up with that?

I know somebody who instead of saying basic words he things of large words, which sometimes people dont know just to sound smart.
