My teacher assigned a 10 sentence essay. I was left with 4 run ons in the 10 sentences. If you can help me make these sentences not run ons, but still keep them 1 sentence. I would appreciate it very much!

Run on 1

Run on 2
After realizing his prohecy Oedipus leaves Corinth with hopes to avoid the prophecy, ironically this leads to him murdering his father on his journey to Thebes.
Run on 3
Oedipus becomes King of Thebes after solving the riddle of the Sphinx, then marries his widowed mother, and finds out his true identity, this provokes him to take his sight by blinding himself.
Run on 4
Oedipus expierences reversal once he flees from Corinth to a land where "[he] should never see evil." Oedipus leaving started the prophecy by killing his father and marrying his mother.

My littlest boy is starting prep (pre-school) next year. His older brothers and sisters both knew how to count up to 20, say their abc's and knew their colors when they started - but he doesn't - he is bright enough - but we just haven't had the time to spend with him as we did with them...
He starts in February 2008. What can I do over the next 4 months to help him "quick-learn" these basic skills?
