I meant something like this:

}

...so, what's the right syntax for "variable" identifiers? I hope you understand my question.

I know this is possible in Java. I forgot how it is done. I dunno where to find the answer because I don't even know what this is called.

I'm the webmaster for a modest section of my employer's Intranet. I'm using HTML4.01 & CSS 2.1.

I know that the standard (UK) keyboard has the ' on the @ key. However, so far I have been using the rsquo entity name because it tends to look better.

Will that entity name cause screen readers a problem?

Does the standard ' work well in all contexts?

PS. How does one get an ampersand to display in questions like this? :-)

I have a WorkBook with 5400 Names, Addresses, and various other info.
There are duplicate addresses
I have a column with header "Status"
This Column 'B' has four cell values of Expired, Withdrawn, Active, or Active Contingent
I need to do a Mail Merge and don't want to have duplicates.
I do not need to mail to addresses with Rows that have Status as 'Active' or 'Active Contingent' these ones I cut from Sheet 1 and pasted into sheet 2.
There are duplicate addresses where the same address is listed as both active, expired, and withdrawn, or any combination of the three.
Addresses are in Coumn I on both sheets
Now I need a way to merge Column I on both sheet 1 and 2 and have Excel transfer data to sheet three.
Sheet three would only have Expired or Withdrawal Listings (Column B) and no duplicates of any addresses as well as no 'Active' status'
I hope this makes sense it really is not that complicated I am just missing it.

Iam trying to connect my JFrame to Oracle using jdbc and i have extracted classes12.jar file to my java/lib folder. In this folder there are 2 folders javax and oracle. In oracle there is a jdbc folder in which there is a driver folder again. How do i set my classpath for my program to run. I am getting this NoClassDefFound error. I have kept my project folder in another package in E:\New Folder. I actually need to extract data from a student registration form and put it into a table in oracle database. Could anyone help me how to solve this problem.

Here's the deal:

I know nothing about FTP, honestly. To answer this question you're probably going to want to imagine me as a toddler or alien or something my math teacher always wants us to pretend to be when answering those questions that ask "How did you solve it?" ANYWAYS, that's beside the point.

I want to know this for my site .. Currently my site is hosted by a free host (not saying it's bad!). Just looking for better options, I suppose. I need to know all there is to know really .. If you can. It would be most appreciated. Also: What is the actually POINT of FTP? xD

Hello again,

I've asked a few questions regarding how to build a form in Java using AWT. I'm having a lot of problems getting the components to align themselve in a visually appealing way -- for some reason things seem to default to terrible placement.

Anywyas, the form I want is like this:

UserID: [TextBoxHere]
Name: [TextBoxHere]
Status: [DropDownMenuHere]
Language: [CheckBoxHere][CheckBoxHere]...[CheckBoxHere]...
Foreign: [RadioButtonHere] [RadioButtonHere]
[Text box here ]


Now this would be very simple to do in HTML (and I'm sure there must be some trick to doing it in Java, but I can't seem to figure it out) I'm using the GridBagLayout and adjusting the gridx and gridy values as I add the above componets to the applet.

It looks terrible -- labels on the far left of the window, text fields several inches to the right...Radio buttons and checkboxes are spaced irratically -- Help!! :]

I use the following command to combine multiple files into one.
copy "c:\x\y\z\Combine Work\*.avi.*" /b "c:\x\y\z\Combine Work\combined.avi" /b

I have used the full address of the file (names have been shortened). I use the command in a bat file called combine.bat.

Is there a way to modify the address so it will automatically use the files within the folder that the bat file is in? I don't want to use a change directory command since I want it to work in any folder automatically. Now it only works in the "Combine Work" folder. I would like it to work in any folder without modification.

I'm trying to put the embed code under my banner on Myspace so people can copy the code and paste it on their profile. But it just shows up as the same banner in the text box. How can I disable the code for this so just the embeddable text shows?

why is this strange URL cintinually obtructing the function of my computer under the error Code 5 ?
Its such a nuisance destroying all my job after paying you a monthly fee of 11.95/ a month.

I paid a significant sum to have a website developed. It contains a custom built application that is written in ruby on rails, and has other systems plugged in as well. The site is now live and works well most of the time, however I am now experiencing bugs and other issues that require immediate attention to remedy, as the site is in production and the issues are affecting users.

It seems that now that the site is live, my requests for support from the developers has been reduced dramatically. We had a big issue on Saturday that affects all the users, and I can't get a solid response time yet from them about when the issue will be fixed. They are paid (well) by the hour but I suspect other, perhaps more lucrative projects are taking their attn.

As it's such a custom job, I am worried that if I break away I will not be able to find a group to do the work well and understand what the original coders wrote. But my users (and my site's reputation) are suffering. What do I do?

I would like to repeat an element, a flash element, both horizontally and vertically, beginning and ending at limits specified by me. It seems like the only way to repeat an element is to make it the background, which is only feasible for images, not flash, as far as I know. Does anyone know how to do this?

OK. this is the final question i have (hopefully). this is my problem.

What im trying to do is
1) take all the full pathnames of directories and print them to a text file. I've already got an answer on how to do this...

2) i need to loop through them one at a time and print single rows to another text file. it prints row one, then runs another of my shell scripts. when the shellscript is done, i need to do the same while printing row two to the text file...

i dont know how to do step two. I thought origionally awk would be the answer, but awk deals with columns, not rows.

Any insight? thanks.
