I am a Software developer who wishes to stop people making and distributing compromised copys of my software.

I know that 'Zend Guard' and 'IonCube' is the best software for protecting scripts, but what can I do to protect my software programs from being compromised?

Any 'Crackers' out there??

When we change a a table on the database and have a stored procedure that grabs all fields from the affected table (SELECT table.*...) that is attached to a Crystal Report we have to do a Verify Database on each report so that the report fields are in sync with the stored procedure. Is there a utility we can run on a directory that would automatically update the reports?

ok for a class assignment we have to do a microsoft excel prgram thingy and we have to deal wiht the dewey deciaml system and so my teachers says that we have to have simething like 342.8 then 342.86 then 342.867 but i cant find ones with more than 1 number after the deicmal space if anyone knows a website or something that could help i would love that thanks!!!! *BEZ*

I have in interest in learning software and pretty much everything about photopshop, setting up and maintaining a website, software development, 3d modelilng, etc. Is the best thing that I can do to learn and get experience since I have a lot of free time at home, to just check books out at the library and try to extract as much information as I can from that. I know that some have tutorials. But other than college, how do you learn.

I am in charge of recommending test automation software for my company. We are a startup, and developing our desktop application in .NET 3.0 using WPF(E). The (E) means that our engineers are using WPF Extended, which theoretically is supposed to be cross-platform. Basically, the tool needs to support WPF either now or in the very near future (we have aggressive schedule), and preferably be able to run on Mac OS X as well (preferred, but not required).

Any ideas? I already spoke with Mercury (WinRunner and QuickTest Pro), and Segue/Borland (Silk), and none of them support WPF right now, but will in the future.

I am wondering if there's anything better out there?

We have a corrupt database and are trying to repair it. I execute the following command in Query Analyzer: "DBCC CHECKDB ('CriticalDB', REPAIR_FAST) WITH ALL_ERRORMSGS ". It has been running for 45 minutes with no visible sign of progress. We had no idea it would take so long and are sorry we tried this. We would rather rebuild manually the suspect tables or indexes at this point, but we are afraid to stop the query for fear of causing more damage to the database. Is it safe to stop execution of this query? Thanks!

Background:

I have a CGI script (served by Apache on Linux) that gets called about once per second or more on my web-site. This script calls (via perl LWP) a webservice on an external site (see http://gisdata.usgs.gov), parses the results and returns a subset of them.

Problem:

It usually returns pretty quick (<200ms), but sometimes there is 1+ seconds lost in just resolving the IP of the domain of the 3rd party web-service.

Solutions?

I could hard-code the IP, but that's always error-prone, there's got to be a better way. Plus they're using a load-balancer, so I don't want to target one IP if they expect the traffic to be balanced.

What I want to avoid is the round-trip to my ISP's name-server for *each and every* request to resolve the same domain.

I think I could run bind on the server, and use that to resolve, but is there a simpler way? An app I can run in the background that will just keep track of commonly-looked-up DNS names?

Why didn't they just leave it C++ and add a few libraries? And is it interpetive or compiled? I feel like java is a big confusing mess - just blowing off some steam. I love plain old C, by the way. And javascript is okay too. But OO stuff is overrated in IMO. What do you think?
