Programming & Design - December 2006

Ok here is the story, I had this assignment due that called for a program to test if a WORD (meaning no spaces, unless there is a word in the English language that has a space in it, and is still a word)...regardless my instructor marked me off 10 points! and the only thing he wrote on my paper was "function does not work". He gave me the lowest grade I’ve ever received in one of his classes, an 86.67%, personally I'm not sure whether to be mad, or ashamed of it. Regardless, I have tested this program NUMERIOUS times from before, and after I got it back from the instructor, and I have found NO errors within it, unless you enter something with a space(which the program was not required to have)!!!

The best answer will go to whoever can tell me wtf is wrong with my program, and tell me why I was marked off points. If you need a question format, why was my grade so low on this program.

I can type above the path using the path type tool, but how can you change the type to fall BELOW the path, without it being upside down or backwards?

How can I have a variable contain the value of, lets say, the first 500 characters. Im using PHP session variables. If there isn't a way (which I doubt), is there another way to limit the amount of characters in an amount of text displayed?

I want to write an application that will run on Windows Mobile. I have zero programming experience. The program could probably be written in something non-platform specific like Java ... it will simply gather information from a database and display it on the Today screen. But I just want to create one app, I'm not really looking to get into programming or spend $$$$ on something like Visual Studio. Any ideas on a good app for dooing this? I'd be happiest with some sort of WYSIWYG format along the lines of Dreamweaver where you can use templates and tweak if you need to, but this is not necessary.

I found a private web-buider at www.vampy.lx.ro and asked him to build me a web-site .. I paid 50 euro .

I searched for more cheap web-builders but they were asking for at least 300$ .. and now I recived my web-site and the domain ... and I think it's a good one .

Do you know something cheaper or I will command another one on www.vampy.lx.ro ?

I have a forum where I am the administrator but when I try to moderate forums and stuff I can only delete single posts and edit what they say. I can't even mark something as "Off Topic" or "Trash". I been to forums where the Admins can do all kinds of things and I was wondering if they were add=ons or mods. I need help on finding a way to Moderate my forum in a more advanced method and with more control. Any links or personal advices are appreciated! Thanks.

Ok, I have searched a lot of sites and only found tutorial on how to edit templates but none on how to start a template from scratch. I have a design and I don't want to pay someone to code it so I wanted to find a guide for designing a template. How can I export the SQL of my queries? When I right click a query and select 'Design View', then right click the top frame and choose 'SQL View' I get the SQL of the query. Its this that I need to export. I have quite a lot of queries that I need as SQL and it would take quite a lot of time to copy and paste and save them as SQL manually.

I have one of the earlier versions of FoxPro. Recently my computer died. Luckliy all of my foxpro data was recoverable. However, now I can't print to either our network printer or my local printer. i have tried to change my printer settings, but nothing works, and even if they did the settings don't stay when the program is closed. No one in my companies IT dept is familiar with this database program because its so old. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm new to wordpress and while I managed to succesfully install it, I can't seem to figure out much about changing the look of it. I also taught myself how to install new themes I got off the net, but what I really want to know for starters, is how to insert my logo at the top of the page. I know there are plenty of guides on the net, but none of them are easy to follow, as I'm used to using dreamweaver and have little to no knowledge of html, php, etc...Any help would be appreciated.

but works ok with the other order.
i thought the order of flags in linux didn't matter...
but here it seems to.
the -type flag takes an argument (for example -type f for file)
this is happening in the find command.
any help here?
