I am attempting to build my first web site and I was browsing thru a book at the library and I read I can use a shim.gif to keep my tables on my web site from collasping in different browses but it did not explain how to make a shim gif, could some one tell me how to make one..

Is it better to use bmps, jpegs for my images or gifs and could you please explain your answer.

Is it better to build a web page using tables or frames or a combination of both.

when i tried to save a normal word doc. in microsoft word i got this message: "After saving this document in word document format, all autotext entries will be lost and this document can no longer be used as an add-in. Do you want to save in this format anyways?" i have never gotten this before. wat does this mean?

I've been using Fireworks in tandum with Dreamweaver. I'm more interested in the graphic portion of Fireworks, not so much the web layout. Basically, I want to create my buttons, banners and graphics in something not quite as expensive as abode fireworks. [I'm the lowest form of life on this office toddum pole. Its been almost two years since I learned Javascript, CSS and HTML. Have they changed a lot since then or is it just me? I seem to not know how to do a lot of stuff.

I have 2 columns with 28 different numbers each, I need to create a database using excel program with the sums of all possible combinations between 2 and 8 elements from 28 numbers in each column and compare the results to find identical results.
For example in the first column the sum of 3550+50+500+125+18.40=4234.40 its identical with the sum of 2000+2220+14.4=4234.4 in the second column. In other words I need to find identical sums with different number of elements between both columns.
I don´'t know how create a program in excel that let generate automatically all possible sum of combinations from 2 to 8 elements from 28 quantities in both columns and then compare one with other in order to find identical results.
Can someone help me?
