BAPI (Business Application Programming Interface) is a set of interfaces to object-oriented programming methods that enable a programmer to integrate third-party software into the proprietary product from SAP. For specific business tasks such as uploading transactional data.

IDoc (for intermediate document) is a standard data structure for electronic data interchange (EDI) between application programs written for the popular SAP business system or between an SAP application and an external program.

IDocs are mainly in the form of xml files. These files can be interpreted by any language like java or xml parsers. There by a third party program can use this data. IDocs are mainly for outgoing data from sap and BAPI is mainly used for taking data into sap from outside.
