► Just use NVU editor (www.nvu.com), it's free and wont tie you down to one method of editing. NVU pages can be transferrable to frontpage or dreamweaver html editor
SEE http://www.interkeys.com/htmleditor for more info on Premium HTML Editors (WYSIWYG)

► For free hosting, try google pages pages.google.com or yahoo geocities ,
its sort of free hosting, but you are limited to a subdomain on googlepages & geo has ads on your website - otherwise I would use http://www.interkeys.com/tophosts to get one for a few bucks a month with 500 GIG bandwidth and the rich with features

its up to you how developed a site you want and if you want to use your own domain name

There are two pieces that you need to consider:

1. The place to put the web site so that everyone can see it

Other people have answered this one. There are many places on the web that will host your site for free. These include your internet service provider, your email provider, and other free sites who will give you "free web space."

2. The creation of the web site so that it exists.

This can be done in many ways. One of them is to use Microsoft Word to create a page then use the "Save As" to create the HTML.

Making one and having it hosted are two separate topics.

First, decide what program you are going to use to create the code for it. You could get away with using notepad, but I would suggest doing a google search because theres tons of freeware apps that will help you do this.

I have frontpage, and dreamweaver but I learned on something caled AceHtml. It was free and I think it still is.
It covers the basics pretty good, and even allowed me to use flash with it.

Now, once you have your program, then you start creating your code.

Next, you need someone to host it.
Now if you want your own website with your very own name, as in ..www.yourname.com then youll have to register the name and have someone host it, or set up your own server to host your site. But you will either register it or have a hosting company register it for you.

Theres alot of free web hosting companies out there that wil insert advertisements somehow. And they will also limit your monthly bandwidth, and storage space for you to upload your code and files.
But theyre free, so you cant really argue with that price.

And thats pretty much it.
Alot of free hosting companies have free templates that you can use that are easy to use premade forms that all you do is stick your info and tell it what size and color you want the site to be.

But other than tat its pretty easy.

Recap
1. Decide application to create your code in
2. Write the code, or use templates
3. Pick either free or will you pay for a web host
4. Or you can set up your own server
5 decide if you want your own www.yourname.com or something like http://webhost name.yourname.com, in which case you will have to register it
6 register through the hosting company if they wil host or if you will create your own server then you register the www.yourname.com
7 upload your code and files.

Pretty much it in a nutshell

After you create your first website, youll se how addicting it can become with so many programs and code out there to tweak your site. It will consume you.

Well, hope that heps some.
