i want to store 3 names say john,mac and henry in an array in c++

I have c++ in my college portion. But I really wonder if it's going to be of any use for me to study it. Consider the fact that c++ is considered better than c, so the next programming language may be well, better than c++ or it could be something comletely different, unrelated to c++.
Would it be a good option for me to really slog it out learning c++ or wait for a better alternative?

I have a CD-R in my D drive that I burned some data onto using the windows CD writer that comes with Windows XP home edition. When I click on "properties" it shows that there is no used space on the disk. (In other words it shows that the disk is empty.) However, when I click "open," all of the data is on the disk. I am glad that my data is there, but why would Windows XP show that no space has been used under "properties"? In addition to this: I also used Nero to burn some data onto another CD-R and my computer showed that the disk was empty, and it wouldn't pull up the files that I burned onto the CD. However, I was able to pull the files up on my work computer which uses Windows 2000 Professional. Is this a known issue with Windows XP. I have an Insignia brand computer. Is it a known issue with the D Drive in Insignia computers? Sorry for the double question, but does anyone have any ideas here?

I am creating a new database and my existing database already have some passwords that are sotred using MySQL PASSWORD() encryption, but in the new database i am using md5(). How do I convert the existing password to md5.
