I am considering cashing out my 401K when I leave my company next month. I am not retirement age. I have a vested balance of $60,000 available. What are the tax penalties? I think that it is 20% right off the top and then subject to a 10% tax penalty when I file my taxes in January. Is that correct?

The old lady who lived in a shoe was having some real trouble buying Christmas presents for her enormous family. Although she bought the least expensive stocking stuffers she could find, the bill was high. Of course, both a 15 percent sales tax and a 5 percent luxury tax were added to the original price. She paid a total of $100. What was the cost of the stuffers before taxes?

IRS sent me a letter including a form to sign and mail back that I failed to send. They stated that either my refund would be lowered if I didn't send back the signed form.
They also stated that this would of been prevented if I would of filed e-file while using turbo tax
Can I go back and e-file it , instead of the mail,, which will take 6-8 weeks again?
(college tuition is going to be due soon for my daughter! )
