I claimed a child, and H and R block said I qualified for the Earned Income Credit, however, the IRS office says that im getting audited and they want proof that I can't provide. They said i'd get something in the mail soon, what will happen if I just don't send anything at all?

Is there any advantage paying an employee through supplemental wages instead of regular (salary) wages? Does the employer get any kind of tax break? Or do they pay less tax overall if the majority of the compensation is paid via supplemental wages?

My Aunt died in Dec. 2005 and left me some money. Her extate will most likely be settled by the end of 2006. What years inheritance tax rates will apply...2005 or 2006? There is a big difference depending on which years tax rate is used.

Could I deduct my car payment? Can I deduct any services to my car, such as oil changes or new tires? I know I can definitely deduct the gas/mileage I use while on the job. Do I need to keep track of how many miles I drive each day for my job? Also, should I keep my receipts for gas? Can I deduct the food I buy while on the job? Please, if any of you are aware of even the smallest things that I should be keeping receipts for, please let me know. I am 21 years old, unmarried, and without children. I am working as an independent contractor, just started a few days ago. I will make about $12500 for the next 6 months remaining in 2006. How much should I set aside to pay taxes next year? I will be doing a lot of driving for the job, so do the deductions that come along with driving for the job make a huge difference? I am worried that I will be stuck with a rather large payment next year and just want to be adequately prepared. Thanks in advance for your help.

My grandpa, old and confused, had not been doing his taxes for years. He went back and did them for the last 3 years recently.
He owed a few thousand, paid it and the saga continues with all sorts of penalties for not paying up earlier.

Is there a form or contact info for people that didn't pay their taxes due to dementia and can be exempt from such fees?

Please save the lectures, I've heard them enough. It's a long story as to why/how it didn't get done, but I need to know how to fix this hole I've put myself in. I'm sure the state would've been paying me a little bit so what do I do? File each year seperatly now or do I need to call someone in particular since the 2004 taxes are so old especially? Thanks for the help..
