Texas is one of the few states in the US that does NOT have a STATE INCOME TAX as a result of it's Oil, Gas and other invironmental profit centers. We do however, have to pay Federal Income tax just like anyone else!

I live in Texas and we do not have a state income tax. However, we are subject to the same Federal tax as everyone else.
We also have extremely high property taxes (almost 3%) and sales tax (8.75), so believe me when I say that it is not that great of savings.
The only real break you get here is that property is not outrageous like it is in CA and NY.... but everything else is more expensive.
