So I have some money saved (around 40k) and right now I have it sitting in a Certificate of Deposit--- it will become available in a few weeks and I want to invest at least 50% of that money. However, I am confused. Where do I go? I want a reputable company (person) to handle my money --- I worked very hard for it and sacrificed a lot in the process of saving and I want it to grow not deplete. What sort of investments should I look at? What are the fees and taxes involved in investing? i am kinda clueless when it comes to this but I understand the concept as a whole (I took a few finance classes).

I have no investment savings because of dead-end jobs closing or down sizing. I would like to know how much I need to save monthy to have $100,000 in 5 years. YES 5 YEARS. I would like advice not only in the area of investments BUT how much would it take EACH DAY in quarters to save $100,000 IN 5 YEARS? HOW MUCH WOULD I HAVE TOWARDS THE $100,000 IN 1 MONTH AND/OR 1 YEAR IF I SAVED IN QUARTERS? This question is for anyone who is scared as well that they won't end up with anything because of dead-end jobs downsizing. Any investors or savers please respond.PLEASE WITH SERIOUS ADVICE ONLY! THANKS IN ADVANCE.

We can see the historic prices of Dow Jones, Nasdaq, QQQQ and S&P 500 everyday before, but now we can't. I hope Yahoo could give us an answer about it, becasue I depend on it for my stock trading everyday. If, Yhaoo will not offer this service, would you please recommend other websites about it? Thanks a lot.

I checked several stocks. For each one, YahooFinance states historical data is unavailable, even for a time period of just the last week.

B & C Corp. is panning to spend large amounts of money on R&D over the next few years and feels that it may not be able to use all the tax shields generated by a 42.75% debt ratio. The company considers lowering the debt ratio to 20%. HOW will this change its WACC and cost of equity? Assume that the lower debt ratio will reduce the before-tax cost of debt to 8%.
【Hint: The change in debt ratio will lower the cost of equity. The problem can be solved by using the “three step” process of unlevering and relevering the WACC.)
Ref. Step 1: Unlever the WACC to calculate the opportunity cost of capital r.
Step 2: Calculate the cost of equity at 20% debt ratio.
Step 3: Calculate the new WACC.
[Remember: r = rD D/V + rEE/V, rE = r + ( rA ーrD )D/E ]

Hi Friends , i have been investing Rs.5000 in a Recurring deposit so far.But my uncle suggested it is a waste to invest in an RD and i'd do better if i invested in a SIP. He advised me to invest 2500 each in 2 SIP's .
Can you guide me on which Fund houses are doing good ?
Is it better to invest 2500 each in one high risk SIP and the other in a balanced one ?

I was looking into some day trading and noticed they limit you to 5 trades per week if your liquid assets are less than $25,000. Why are they keeping the small investors out of the market like that? Seems shady.

How is dividend paid out? If the pay out date is 7/1/07 and you bought 100 share @ $10 on 6/30/07. On 7/1/07, company pays out 14% ($1.40) dividend. Does the time factor plays role on how much dividend is paid out? Or he/she would get full $140 in dividend?
