My friends in Texas, came into a deal of a lifetime. 20 acres in the hill country with new doublewide for less than 5k an acre The Property is very close to Travis Lake and the same land is going for much more. Anyway They could not afford to keep their house in the City roughly 150k with high taxes( and very little equity). They tried renting and selling their city house with little luck, so they ended up foreclosing. I think they could of unloaded by Auction instead and maybe come out of it what do you think?

Can anyone tell me in a nutshell what's been happening in the stock market.

The reason I ask is I have to do a book report (which I am currently working on). He wants us also to draw on recent market history. Not like this stock is going up...but just generally what's been happening. I have no problem looking the info up I just don't know where because WSJ I think would be too specific?? Any info appreciated.--TIA

I am 33, divorced and have two kids 12 and 10. I make about 50/K. They live primarily with my ex while i have them Friday -Monday. I have pretty low expense: rent 720, car payment 200, 100 for student loan, 400/ month support. No other debts (wahoo). I haven't been putting any into 401K because I struggle financially until about a year ago.

The max my employer matches is 2% so 5% is actually going to be 7%. So I figure that roughly that will be about 3500 per year, but it only costs me 2500.

I am thinking that 5% might be too high, or am I just worrying too much. I figure it is better to put in to much than not enough at this point.
