Alright, I am brand new to the stock market and I have a some questions. First off, I am thinking of buying a stock from a company that is about to merge but I'm curious to know if after the merge, will my stock still be sellable? and is there a website that would show me a certain stock's history for free or do I have to pay for their services?

(These question may not make sense.. I just don't know.. )

If I were to invest about $30,000 a year for 15 to 20 years, what would be the best way to do so? Saving accounts only offer about 5% interest and I'm wondering if there is any way to gain over 10% interest a year. Is there any way to save up to 3 million dollars or more? I'm willing to take risks but not to the point that I'm playing lottery numbers for about the next 2 decades. Thanks.

People have been telling me it's damn near impossible. And yet I see the top performers on http://finance.yahoo.com returning upwards of 50% in a year, or 30% per year over a 4-year period, so I know it's gotta be possible somehow.

Is it?

why don't I get $4000 dollars back in my porfolio ? it always seems when the market loses big I lose more money than I get back when the market reaches the same point as before I lost $4000 when ithe market lost 400 points.
I know that these numbers are just paper loses as I am in the market for the long term, but looks to me like I would get the same amount back as i lost.
