Waterhouse a year ago but found out yesterday it closed & would take a week to get a new acct. opened now under TD Ameritrade.

TD Waterhouse (I checked!) is still around as a discount stockbroker . TD ameritrade seems to be designed for retirement planning and was more tedious to explore.
I suggest you phone the TD waterhouse toll free number and resurrect your account.
That would be the fastest. Otherwise, open up a new account with another on line stockbroker. There are many many options for buying and trading stocks for you.
