For investing in say, a 30 year period. Is it better to pay off a student loan with 5% interest quickly and then invest in the stock market after the loan is paid? Or is it better to pay the student loan minimum every month and then invest some money every month in the stock marekt? Thanks.

I am going to open a saving account soon, and I really don't understand the whole interest thing. The bank offers and 0.5% interest rate. It is compounded daily. Let's say I put $1000 in the account tomorrow. When will I actually see the interest in my account, and how much would it be. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

i'm trying to decide between using an online account or using a conventional bank to purchase mutual funds... I know the online brokerage doesn't charge any commisions to buy or trade mutual funds.

I just wonder if buying them through a conventional bank branch is going to cost the same thru management fees, random bank charges etc.

I like the ease of online trading, and already have a stock trading account with the same brokerage company. I'm not an exceptionally savvy investor but am working at being one.

let me know your thoughts!

thanks

I'd like to know, how much actual cash does IBM have to invest?
