Have you heard of such premise:
"The biggest mistake a fundamentalist makes is thinking that the stocks and company are the same" and
"The biggest mistake a technician makes is thinking that the stocks and company are different"

What's your opinion?

I understand how to make money with a call option...the stock goes up so the option is worth more...but could someone explain in "idiot proof" language how you'd buy an option at $X price and the stock goes down....the option is worth less....how does that make you money? My husband is getting into options and although I trust him completely....I don't understand this and he explains it in terms that I don't "get"...any help would be appreciated.

say the price is at $40, you want to sell if it goes below $39, but you expect it to go up to $45. So, this is probably the wrong terminology, but you want a stop at $39, but a limit at $45. Is there such an order and what's it called?

I don't think it's a stop limit since the price is already above $39.

I have been watching two funds managed by Vestin: VRTA and VRTB, both listed on Nasdaq. Both are trading at substantial discounts to book or original value. Both are paying dividends.
What is the market telling us?

What companies do you know of that offer "perks" to their investors?
For example, Wrigley sends a box of gum in December and IBM offers a discount on their computers to investors. Also, are there any annual stockholder meetings that are outstanding?

Ok, I have shares that have a restriction 144 on them. I have gone through the waiting period and instructed my broker to have the restriction lifted. I have filled out all the forms necessary, and was told that by the broker that their paralegal would handle it from here. As far as I know, all that is needed is approval by the issuer, a letter of opinion by their council and a new certificate. This has been going on for 2 months now, and my broker keeps telling me that they have not heard anything new from the paralegal as far as developments. I mean, should I not get updates on what is going on aside from..."when we hear from the paralegal..we will let you know"? How long can this take? And why do I feel as if there's no sense of urgency in the process? I would think they'd be happy to make a commission, but it seems like this just sits on the back burner or something. Can anyone shed light on this for me please. Thanks.

You basic offerings for a 401K, but because it's "new" they're not offering an employer match - The first time I've seen one offered as such - is it still wise to invest in this or perhaps use other alternatives in retirement planning?
