Hints for the Series 7 Exam??

I am trying to study for the series 7 exam for my job. I have the materials and even purchased audio books. Doesn't seem to be helping me make much progess. Anyone have any hints on how to streamline?

I am a Training Specialist for a Brokerage Firm and my main area of focus in the Series 7 exam. The best tip I can give you is to focus on one area at a time. Don't worry about mastering each topic, just focus and do one at a time. If you get hung up (like on munis and options) keep going. Test and retest as much as possible. I have everyone here on STC - the tests are quite comprehensive and have served our people well. Also, and this is the Hypnotist side of me talking, relax....if you get flummoxed and excited, it will seem insurmountable...one step at a time...you will do fine

I took that test about 12 years ago, it isn't easy. the test is split up into two sections and you get a break in the middle. one half of the test is a little easier than the other, so if you first part seems very hard, chances are you have the hard part and the second part is a little easier. use to be you needed 70% to pass. the hardest part of the test maybe the options part, if you have never bought or sold options you really need to have a good understanding of how all that works. I would say just keep studying and taking any practice exams youhave and just keep gong over and over them. lots of different areas to study for those tests. the more you know about investing and the stock market the better. I know I studied very hard and I think I got around 75% or so. what your score is doesn't matter, as long as you just pass it. that is about all I can tell you. good luck

Yeah STC books are good but I found Pass Perfect to be better.

As far as self study goes - create some flash cards for as many topics as you can and keep them with you all the time. In your car at a red light, near your computer at work, by the TV during commercials...

This really helped me with things like the investment acts and rules like 144. You can also get a good sense of the different SRO definitions for terms like advertising per the NASD or NSYE. Others like qualified investor, margin requirements, option strategies, etc.

Also take as many practice tests as possible!
